Tech Ed 5-8 focuses on the 4 Pillars of Tech Ed: Transportation, Communication, Manufacturing and Construction. Students will have a least 4 projects throughout the year that have to do with each pillar. These courses take a STEM approach to learning and all follow the Engineering Process.

High School Tech Ed
High School courses are designed to introduce students to the working world. They work in an environment that models one they would see in an industry setting. There is a strong emphasis placed on proper safety procedures as well as proper equipment use.

Design & Technology Standards
5-8
7.19 - Students use technological/engineering processes to design solutions to problems. This is evident when students: AA. Create a design solution: Build on specifications with an understanding of the constraints (e.g., cost, weight, environment), and tolerances that affect performance; Include mathematical and/or mechanical models of their design; Include steps and sequences for efficiently building a prototype that conforms to the specifications; Test the prototype; Use the results to modify the design; and BB. Understand that the sequences in which these steps occur is critical to the efficiency and effectiveness of a solution. |

Create a design solution: Build on specifications with an understanding of the constraints (e.g., cost, weight, environment), and tolerances that affect performance; Include mathematical and/or mechanical models of their design; Include steps and sequences for efficiently building a prototype or product that conforms to the specifications; Test the prototype; Use the results to modify the design; and BBB. Evaluate and adjust a design process, responding to the unique characteristics of specific problem. |
